So, I’ve learned that getting into shape is actually not as easy as I thought it was going to be. I know Mommy told me that it would be this way, but after having an entire month off, I feel like I can barely trot for five minutes without getting winded! I used to be able to work an hour, solid, without even breathing hard; now a fifteen minute workout has me huffing and puffing for at least twice that long!
I hate that I’m so out of shape, but it really makes me realize the wisdom of Mommy’s plan to take things slowly. I only worked for two days in a row before getting a day off (yesterday), and boy did I need it! After working two days in a row, I was exhausted! I’ll work again today, but not until later, when it isn’t quite so hot outside.
Mommy said that, while I’m working my way back into shape, I’ll have a much different workout schedule – obviously! Whereas I was working 4 days in a row (and an hour each day) before getting a day off, I will now be on a “2/1/3/1/2/1” schedule… which is to say: two days of work, one day off, three days of work, one day off, etc… And each of those workouts will be short. You see, I’m starting at fifteen minutes each time, and working my way gradually back up to where I used to be. I think it will probably be a few months before I can work out for a full hour each time. What a bummer, right? But that’s okay; this summer has been especially hot, so I wouldn’t want to have to work longer than that, anyway!
Alright, I’ve got my fan blowing on me (even though it’s blowing warm air, it’s still air!), I’ve just finished my lunch hay and I’m going to take a nap. That way, I’ll be able to save up my energy for when Mommy and I work later today! I’ll let you know how it goes. Catch y’all later!
