Friends, I feel better than I’ve felt in quite a while, and I’m sure that it won’t be long before I’m back to work! On the mend is a great place to be.
So, do you remember when I told you the other day that my friend, John the Farrier, came and took my shoe off? Well, Mommy decided that I needed to stay inside while my shoe was off, even though my foot was wrapped, because she was pretty sure that my foot has a bruise on the inside of it. The best way to make a bruise feel better is to let it rest! She didn’t want me walking on the gravel or staying out all night, running around the paddock with my friends. I was upset at first when she told me I would have to stay in, but then I realized that my foot was feeling much better!
My old friend, Dr. Matthew, came by to check my foot, too. It was good to see him – I missed him!
He said that I was looking way better, even though I was still limping a tiny bit. He told Mommy to keep me in for a few more days, but that I was allowed to be turned out in the round pen to play and run and get my sillies out, since the footing in the round pen is nice and soft!
So, of course, Mommy and Daddy came to the barn today and did just that; they turned me out in the round pen, and I had a blast! I warmed up nice and slow, but once my muscles were feeling loose enough, I had a lot of fun running and bucking!
Mommy even hopped on me for a minute…
And then, so did Daddy!
Dr. Matthew said that John the Farrier can put my shoe back on after the weekend, if my foot is still feeling better. I’ll still have to rest for a couple days after that, but if nothing goes wrong (knock on wood!) I’ll get to start working again next week! Please cross your hooves for me, friends!
Anyway, that’s about all I have to report for today. I know my Mommy will be back later to get me out of my stall and let me stretch, and probably eat some grass. So I’m going to go take a nap and wait until she gets here. I’ll catch y’all later!
