Well, today wasn’t particularly eventful, seeing as how I had the day off. And it was a chilly, rainy day, so the timing actually turned out to be quite perfect. Mommy spent a while grooming on me this morning and then rode me out to the paddock with a flake of steamed hay in her lap. She said that she didn’t want to make two trips in the rain, but she wanted to make sure I had some hay to eat inside the shelter, so she sat on my back and sat the hay in her lap. When we got to my little paddock, she tossed the hay into the shelter through the open window… but a little of it clung to my shoulders and her boots, which were already damp from the short walk in the rain.
It had rained so much in the night that there were big puddles everywhere… again. My paddock had the least amount of water, but it was still pretty muddy. And, unfortunately, my favorite big field on the side of the property had turned into a lake again. Mommy and I walked over to see it and, sure enough, it was pretty much underwater. I guess it will be a while longer before I get to go back there with Leo.
Mommy walked me back over to my paddock and let me inside so I could eat my hay in the warm, dry shelter. I didn’t go out much at all today; I mostly just hung out in my shelter and watched the rain. Daddy brought me lunch hay and then some more hay a little later in the afternoon for a snack, so I didn’t have any real need to venture out into the rain, anyway.
Actually, Daddy came and hung out with me in the shelter when he brought me more hay in the afternoon. We didn’t talk much; he just chilled with me while I ate. I enjoyed having him there with me, and Jelly Bean and Jube Jube hung out with us through the fence, too. They were in the paddock next to mine.
Even though it wasn’t an eventful day, it was still a good one. It hasn’t rained in a few hours, so I’m crossing my hooves that the arena will have drained by the morning. That way, Mommy and I can ride tomorrow. If you would, please cross your hooves for me, too! Thanks, friends.
I guess I’ll go and catch some shut-eye. I hope y’all have a great night – stay warm and stay dry! Catch you tomorrow…
